HCCGH FICAC Congress Press Release

The Honorary Consular Corps of Ghana (HCCGH) proudly announces the continued representation and active role within the World Federation of Consuls (FICAC) following the successful re- election of Hon Kwame Acquah, the Hon Consul of Seychelles in Ghana and Executive Secretary of the HCCGH, as one of the nine (9) Directors on the FICAC Board of Directors, with President, Hon. Nikolaos K. Margaropoulos and Vice-President, Hon. Asif A. Chowdhury, re-elected unopposed for the 2025–2028 term at the recent 14th World Congress of the Hon Consuls (FICAC), held in Marrakech, Morocco, from 29 October to 1st November 2025.

The Congress was attended by nearly 200 delegates representing more than 45 Consular Corps or Associations out of the 100 member-States of FICAC, underscoring the global reach and diplomatic importance of the event. Ghana was well represented by a delegation of the HCCGH, constituted by the Hon Consuls of Cabo Verde, Felix Gomis, Jamaica- I Osei Bonsu, Luxembourg – Edmond Boateng, Mexico- Subhi Accad, Seychelles – K Acquah, Trinidad &Tobago- John Mitchell, led by the Dean of HCCGH and Consul of Belgium, D. Avraam.

The strong vote share of (91%) ,39 of 43 valid countries’ votes, reflects the respect and confidence of the international consular community in the leadership of the Honorary Consular Corps of Ghana and in its representative, Hon K Acquah, for our diplomatic engagement and commitment to FICAC’s mission of improving consular cooperation worldwide.

Hon Acquah’s re-election strengthens Africa’s voice within the federation and reinforces Ghana’s position as a leader in Pan-African diplomacy. In a statement, Hon Acquah expressed his gratitude, “This renewed mandate is both an honour and responsibility and it reaffirms the HCCGH’s active role in fostering international friendship,  collaboration and service within the consular community.”

Hon. Kwame N. Acquah serves as Honorary Consul of the Republic of Seychelles in Ghana and Executive Secretary of the Honorary Consular Corps of Ghana. He is also Managing Director of Research Development and Financial Consultants (RDFC) Holdings.

Since 1996, HCCGH has been an active member of FICAC (HCCGH was founded in Ghana in 1994 by 11 countries, Austria, Belgium, Finland, Hungary, Ireland, Lithuania, Norway Poland, Slovakia, Sweden and now has grown in stature and influence over the years, with a current membership of 40.

The World Federation of Consuls (FICAC), established in 1982 and accredited by the United Nations in 1993, is the premier international organization representing honorary and career consuls worldwide.

The Hon Amarkai Amarteifio, Dean Emeritus of HCCGH, has for several years in the past served FICAC both as a Director and Vice-President.

HCCGH extends its deep thanks to all members and delegates who supported its candidacy, and renews its commitment to contribute proactively within the FICAC structure, strengthen international consular ties, and uphold the highest standards of service and cooperation.

HCCGH looks forward to the XV FICAC World Congress in 2028, where Kazakhstan, India and Mauritius have submitted their respective candidatures for hosting the event.
