Patrick Herminie Elected President of Seychelles After Run-off Election
Accra, 16th October 2025 – The Consulate of the Republic of Seychelles in Ghana extends its congratulations to His Excellency Patrick Herminie, President-Elect of the Republic of Seychelles, following his victory in the country’s 2025 Presidential Election.
Mr. Herminie, leader of the United Seychelles Party, emerged victorious after a closely contested run-off held from 9th to 11th October 2025, securing 52.7% of the vote against incumbent President Wavel Ramkalawan, who received 47.3%.
The election, conducted peacefully and transparently, reflected the democratic maturity and civic responsibility of the Seychellois people. The President-Elect has pledged to unify the nation, strengthen public institutions, and address pressing social and economic challenges.
The Consulate commends the people of Seychelles, the Electoral Commission, and all stakeholders for ensuring a credible and peaceful electoral process. This democratic milestone reaffirms Seychelles’ reputation as a beacon of stability and good governance in the Indian Ocean region.
His Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, Asantehene, has accepted an invitation from President-Elect Herminie to attend the Presidential Inauguration Ceremony in Victoria, Seychelles, on Sunday, 26th October 2025, further reinforcing the strong cultural and diplomatic bonds between Ghana and Seychelles.
